The Molecular Design Laboratory is a research group at the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Chemical Biology at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe-University in Frankfurt am Main. Since June 2003 I am working there on my PhD.

The cheminformatics.org website contains links to cheminformatics programs and QSAR datasets. Most of the programs that are linked there should be free to use, at least for academics. There are almost 500 cheminformatics links and more than 30 datasets.

The CDK (Chemistry Development Kit) is an open-source library for cheminformatics and computational chemistry written in Java. It is licensed under the terms of the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL). I am a member of the editorial board of the CDK newsletter.

Andreas Bender, a friend of mine, has a personal homepage.

Jerome Hert also works as a researcher in the field of cheminformatics. He is currently finishing his PhD at the University of Sheffield, UK.

If it comes to audio CD ripping Exact Audio Copy is the choice. It is not only free to use but also features a reading technology that makes it superior to any other program I am aware of.

The Mozilla Firefox Browser is more than just an alternative to Microsoft's Internet Explorer. It is worth a try.

Recently, it was brought to my attention by a friend of mine that my website is pretty much outdated. He was even bold enough to tell me that the design of my site is very 90ish and that it demands a complete overhaul. Although my first impulsive reaction was to object against this - surely unjustified - harsh criticism I decided to spend a moment of my precious time to throw an unprejudiced glance at the site (translates to: visited my own website for the first time in what seems to be many years). And sure enough - my friend was completely right!

That's why I closed the site down for the time being. I am still considering what to do with it. Most likely it will be back soon, fully revamped with lots of very sophisticated state of the art web 2.0 features. I wasn't able to overcome the temptation of immediately taking a huge step forward and implemented the first twodotzero component right away: You can visit my facebook page using the icon at the bottom right! If I'm not procrastinating by twittering, facebooking or IMing I might while away my time checking my email account, so feel free to drop me a .
